Solariskit featured on bbc’s people fixing the planet

SolarisKit is thrilled to have be featured on the BBC People fixing the people program. This program focused on our recent project installing our unique flat-packable solar thermal collectors i Rwanda. In total, five systems were installed in Rwanda to help lower household and commercial energy costs related to heating water. The project went incredibly well with solar collectors heating water above 60 degrees Celsius.

The impact of solar energy on the world, but especially on the global south, is mind boggling. Millions of people in Africa alone are dependent on fuels like wood and charcoal to heat water. Using solar energy to meet hot water demand will not only benefit quality of life but also the environment. Kigali alone consumes 60,000 sacks of charcoal per week. With price for charcoal going up in the region, using charcoal is not only bad for the environment its becoming less accessible to low income households.

SolarisKit’s mission is to provide affordable, clean energy worldwide and to become the global go-to company for DIY solar solutions.
