We’re proud to share details of our latest solar hot water installation at the stunning Rixos Al Mairid resort in Ras Al Khaimah—an exciting step forward in luxury hospitality powered by renewable energy.
The Rixos Al Mairid Ras Al Khaimah is a premier ultra-all-inclusive resort situated along a 1.5 km stretch of private beach in the tranquil Al Mairid area. The resort boasts 466 luxurious accommodations, including one- and two-bedroom suites, expansive family suites, and a lavish royal suite, providing an unparalleled experience for families, couples, and adventure seekers alike.
The project involved the installation of a 15 SolarisKit solar thermal collectors connected to a new 400 litre horizontal hot water tank, supplying hot water to a villa that contains four individual apartments. The installation was expertly carried out by our solar engineer’s and completed in under three days.
Thanks to careful planning and extensive experience with international installations, the switch from the old electric system to the new solar system was executed with disruption to guests. At no point was hot water unavailable highlighting the importance of skilled coordination when working in live hospitality environments.
This pilot project allows the Rixos Al Mairid Hotel and RAK Hospitality to compare energy consumption between two identical 400-litre systems—one solar with back up electric, one fully electric. Even during winter, the solar system is already saving the hotel 30 kWh per day, which translates to an estimated carbon saving of nearly 5 tonnes annually. The ROI is expected to be well under 5 years for this volume and size of solar system.
Our collectors are designed with modern aesthetics in mind low-profile, flat-roof friendly, and invisible from ground level on most flat roofs. They are also durable, reliable, and built to handle hard or mineralised water, while avoiding dangerously high temperatures.
