how activeflow works

ActiveFlow is a solar hot water system which uses a small pump to circulate fluid between the solar collectors and the storage tank. The pump is activated using a solar controller which closely monitors the temperature of the system. When the controller detects there is energy in the collectors to harness, it switches on the high efficiency pump to collect this heat and store it in the hot water storage tank. The process continues over the course of the day adding more and more heat to the insulated storage tank.

  • ActiveFlow is SolarisKit’s complete mains pressure solar hot water solution where we provide all the components on a pallet and ship it to you for installation by a qualified plumber.

  • An ActiveFlow solar hot water system is used for providing hot water for showering, bathing, and cleaning. It is suitable for households, hotels, and glamping/camping sites.

  • Yes, SolarisKit solar collectors have been tested by SPF solar test lab in Switzerland and meets al EU requirements. The SolarisKit S400 solar collector is Solar Keymark certified.

  • ActiveFlow uses a small pump (around 50W) to circulate fluid through the collectors. The solar controller also consumes a little amount of electricity (several watts only). If there is a backup electric hot water system, this will also need electricity to operate.

  • All solar hot water systems including ActiveFlow will have a backup heating method so you’ll always have hot water. The solar collectors are there to do most of the work to save you money. The backup heating is there for peace of mind.
